5 Tips To A Healthier You

The struggle to get healthy can be quite overwhelming. This uphill battle creates a lack of adherence for most diets, fitness programs and meal plans. If this sounds like you don’t give up hope. Taking baby steps is the first move to a healthy lifestyle, which will help you change for good. Get started today with these 5 tips to a healthier you.

5 Tips To A Healthier You – Change Starts Here.

1. Fun Exercises.

Try exercises that make you remember how exercise used to be fun such as:

a. Hopscotch.
b. Dodgeball.
c. Jump rope.
d. Dancing.
e. Rollerskating.
f. Water exercises.

By bringing the joy back to exercise helps make the activity seem less arduous.

2. Dine out Emergency Plan.
When dining out ask waiter for a nutrition facts sheet. An even better plan is to check the ingredients online beforehand. If waiter and cook can’t accommodate you, then it’s time to bounce. You’ll be surprised how much sodium is in that entrée or how much sugar is in that carrot cake. Some salads could contain more calories than a hamburger. The combination of too much dressing, cheese or croutons could spell double trouble.

3. Water.
Keep water bottles nearby to stay hydrated throughout the day. Dark yellow urine is a sign of dehydration (unless you consume (a) certain medications, (b) vitamin B supplements, (c) lots of black berries, (d) asparagus, (e) to name a few). Consult with your doctor for testing, if dark urine persists.

4. Fish.
Eat more fish. Seafood has many benefits from being packed with protein to providing us with heart-healthy and brain boosting omega-3 fatty acids. Try to eat fish twice a week. I like wild caught salmon.

5. Meal Portions.
Consider portions at meal time. Did you know that one cup of pasta is about the size of a fist, a 3 oz serving of meat is about the size of the palm of your hand, and a domino is about the size of 1 oz of cheese? You can also try measuring portions out for several days so that you have a better control over future estimations. This area is still a challenge for me.
