The Big Switch

4 Reasons To Make Big Switch To Heart-Healthy Lifestyle.

It takes a lot of courage to make the big switch when it comes to our health. The body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit and we need to respect and care for our bodies. With good health we can live a happy life, go the places we want to go, and do the things we want to do. “There is no wealth without good health.” Good health is something that we often take for granted until we lose it. If your life depended on it, would you eat more fruits and vegetables? Drink less sodas? Eat less sweets? Exercise regularly? That being said, if you made just one big switch, you could change your life.

How To Make Big Switch To Heart-Healthy Lifestyle:

1. Get Physically Active.
Too many people “plan to” lose weight fail to realize it takes real effort to make those changes. You have to find a way to fit these plans into your life. What’s your motivation to do it? A new gym membership? A Fun Dance Workout? Doctor’s visit? Health scare? You have to do something different so make the effort to take that road less traveled.

2. Eat Whole Foods.
What is that you say? Eat foods that are not processed, such as:

a. brown rice.

b. fish.

c. beans.

d. raw nuts.

e. veggies.

f. fruits.

I do not suggest that you stew your own tomatoes just to make sauce for your spaghetti (but stay away from sauce in a jar). You would be amazed by the amount of salt packed in jars like that.

3. Add More Color (no dyes).
Adding fruits or veggies to your meal with the right colors add powerful antioxidants to your diet while giving your eye something dazzling to look at. It is recommended to add the yellows, oranges, reds and more green to your meals.

4. Healthy Fats.

The Big Switch Healthy Fats

Some people believe the word “fat” is a bad thing but the truth is we all need fats. To be specific, the good fats promote healthy blood flow throughout your body. Too much bad fats could block the blood flow and lead to a heart attack. So know what’s going in your body. Many of the good fats come from things we should eat regularly, which brings me back to the importance of a balanced, healthy, whole food diet.

Here are some examples of good fats:

a. Olive Oil.

b. Avocados.

c. Nuts.

d. Fish Oil.

e. Sunflower Seeds.

f. Tofu.

I am a realist and know most of us cannot get enough of the good stuff in us. In those times and because our food is not as “healthy from the earth” as it used to be, I would suggest a great meal replacement or supplement. Just like your efforts to find the right foods, you must take time to read labels and make sure the ingredients are as pure as possible. Whatever drink you add to your diet make sure it is a wise choice for you and your family. I suggest a few glasses of h20 each day. Your body will thank you. Having said that, I’m here to help anyone ready to make one big switch.
